Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is known as the “Art of Eight Limbs” and is the national sport of Thailand. It is known as the “Art of 8 Limbs” because it refers to the 8 points of contact – fists, elbows, knees, and shins. Muay Thai has grown over the years to become a combat sport loved and practised all over the world by fighters, and non-fighters alike.
In 2016, Muay Thai has received provisional recognition as an Olympic sport, finally gaining its well-deserved recognition. Professional martial artists and fighters agree that training Muay Thai is vital for becoming an all-around versatile fighter. It’s also a key component of MMA styles such as the fighting you would see in the UFC.
Our Muay Thai classes are held in a welcoming and comfortable environment. Whether if you are just looking to train for fitness and recreational purpose or you are hoping to compete in a fight, our classes are catered to suit your training goals.

Is Muay Thai the same as Kickboxing?

Despite the fact that many people confuse Muay Thai and Kickboxing, they are very distinct in many ways, including fighting styles and methods.
Watch just a single match, and you can easily spot the biggest difference. The most evident distinction between Kickboxing and Muay Thai is that Muay Thai is an eight-point striking method that includes elbows and knees as well as kicks and punches, whereas Kickboxing is a four-point striking method that exclusively teaches punches and kicks.
In a nutshell, Muay Thai and Kickboxing are two highly effective martial arts – possibly the best two striking martial arts now accessible. Even though they have a few crucial differences, you can’t go wrong with either.

Boxing is one of the most effective and oldest martial arts. Boxing is the beautiful science of hitting without being hit, utilizing punches, footwork, and head movement. Boxing is a combat sport in which two participants fight one other by throwing punches at each other. The main purpose of boxing back in the day was to knock the opponent out. Today in modern Boxing, it falls into two categories: –

• Amateur Boxing
• Professional Boxing

In amateur boxing, points are awarded rather than the amount of physical harm done to an opponent. Protective headwear is also worn. The matches are shorter, consisting of three rounds of three minutes each, with a one-minute rest time in between.
Professional boxing matches, on the other hand, usually last 10 to 12 rounds. Fighters aren’t allowed to wear headgear, and they absorb a lot more damage. Most boxers frequently begin their careers as amateur fighters before moving on to the professional ranks.
Team Armada Martial Arts takes great pride in having a WBC (World Boxing Council) sanctioned referee, FS Cheng as our Head Instructor.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, more commonly known as BJJ is a martial art based on grappling and ground fighting. It is also known as the “Gentle Art” as it promotes the concept that smaller person can successfully defend themselves against a larger opponent by using leverage and proper technique, taking the fight to the ground – utilizing joint locks and choke holds.
As a student, you will be exposed to a variety of BJJ styles due to the diverse backgrounds and BJJ lineage of our instructors. Students are graded according to the traditional BJJ belt ranking system.

Why is BJJ so popular nowadays?

It’s a way of life for many individuals. BJJ’s appeal originates in part from the fact that it provides both physical and mental benefits. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is without a doubt one of the world’s fastest-growing martial arts. It has developed into something more than just a sport or a martial art.

1. When opposed to other combat disciplines, you can spar at 100% effort with less chance of injury.
2. It’s highly technical, so there’s always something new to learn, explore, or improve upon. There’s a slim possibility you’ll get bored.
3. It has a lot of scalability and flexibility. You can train for a competitive career, just for fun, or somewhere in the between. There are Gi and No Gi versions of the sport.
4. It’s suitable for older adults. Due to the low impact aspect of many of the techniques, it’s possible to train and even to spar at an older age.
5. It is one of the best bases for MMA. Anyone who has a solid base in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has the upper hand once the fight hits the ground.
6. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu takes you on an emotional roller coaster that not only strengthens you physically, but also psychologically and emotionally. You must be willing to accept defeat, learn from it, and move on.
