IBJJF Asian Open Championship, ASJJF Japan Grand Prix and Malaysia BJJ Kids International.
So what has happened in the past month?
It was a busy and exciting September 2019 for the coaches of Team Armada with IBJJF Asian Open Championship, ASJJF Japan Grand Prix and Malaysia BJJ Kids International. Team Armada’s coach, FS Cheng managed to win Bronze in the Adult’s Blue Belt category in his weight division at the prestigious IBJJF Asian Open Championship 2019 held at Tokyo Budokan. It was his second IBJJF win this year. Earlier this year, FS Cheng has managed to win double Silver in IBJJF Manila Open at Philippines.
The following week after that, FS Cheng has again managed to win Bronze at ASJJF Japan Grand Prix 2019 held at Taito River Side Sports Center. Not only that, Team Armada’s staff, Bless Yeap managed to win Silver in the Adult Female White Belt category as well. It is never easy to compete internationally and even more challenging to reach the podium but we are glad they did their best.
The week after FS Cheng and Bless returned to Penang, they travelled again down to Kuala Lumpur with the kids team for the Malaysia BJJ Kids International competition organised by BJJ Roots. We had a total of 6 kids who competed and all of them medalled – 2 Silvers and 4 Bronzes.
Congratulations to all of them! We are so proud of each of them and excited to see them continue on their Jiu-jitsu journey. Their achievements and experience in competition has inspired other kids to take part in future competitions as well. We always encourage kids to join competition and to step out of their comfort zone.
Catch them again in action next month (November 2019) along with a few from our adults team at the biggest Jiu-jitsu tournament in Malaysia: Copa Da Malasia happening at Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya. This time we will be having more kids competing and for some of them it will be their first time competing.
